The prompt for your audition piece is essentially simple: your character hears about the tournament to become the new Patron and applies.

How your character hears about the tournament is up to you. It could be over the radio, they could have been there when the announcement was made, maybe there are fliers up everywhere, or a friend told them. It’s a big city, there are plenty of different ways to get information. (Just remember that it’s 1931, there’s no such thing as television yet; but there are movie theaters...).

Supers will be instructed to report to the town square, where they will be paired against a fighting robot to show off their skills. The robot has the basic motor functions of a human being, and has two main attacks: 1) its fists can detatch, powered by tiny rockets, but do not seek; and 2) its mouth can spray a line of fire in 5-second bursts, with a limit of twenty shots in its tank. Your character must defeat the robot in order to qualify for the tournament. It will be a showcase of your character’s power(s), cleverness, and worthiness to be the Patron.

There will be a written audition prompt in the gallery, written by me, for an example. This will not be a “you must write everything exactly like this” prompt, it will simply show you the guidelines and some suggestions.

Here is what you need to submit, in total, to enter the tournament:

An audition piece, in literature form, as explained above
A reference sheet for your primary character. I've made up a Patron Character Reference Template, but you're not obligated to use the one I cooked up. So long as you include your character's name, detailed physical description, personality traits, history, and description/strength of power(s), everything should be fine.
Some sort of reference for any secondary character(s) you may have. You don't need to fill out as detailed a reference sheet as you did for your primary character if you don't want to, but there needs to be some kind of reference for everyone on your team.

Once you have all of those pieces completed, submit each piece to the correct gallery in the PatronOCT group. If you have any questions on how to submit entries, please contact the group, myself, or one of the judges. There is no need to send a note containing your audition/reference to either my personal account or the group account, but please don't hesitate to ask any questions if you have them.

You can still make edits to your audition and/or reference before the deadline passes, but once the dealine hits, there can be no more edits made. This is considered cheating. If your audition or reference is not complete by the deadline, your entry will be forfeit. Please make sure that, if your audition is posted in multiple parts that each part has a link to the next and previous in the comments, or it may be considered incomplete and disqualified. We don't want this to happen to you!!
